What It Does
Photo-to-Quilt Mosaic takes any image you upload and converts it into a grid of solid-color squares that, when viewed together, recreate the photograph as a patchwork quilt. It uses color quantization to reduce your photo down to a limited palette of distinct colors, then maps each grid cell to its closest match.
You control how many colors the algorithm uses, from as few as 6 for a bold, graphic look to 20 or more for a detailed, almost photographic result. The fewer colors you choose, the more abstract and quilt-friendly the output becomes. More colors preserve detail but require a wider fabric selection.
The resulting mosaic is placed directly onto your QuiltWall design grid as a full layout of solid-color blocks. From there, you can swap colors for actual fabrics from your stash, adjust individual cells, or use it as a starting point for further design work. This feature is free for all users.
